Gertrud Åström – a Leading Voice for Gender Equality

A Gender Equality Champion

On April 9th, JLOF will host the seminar “Working with Gender Equality in Sweden and the World” in Stockholm. A key highlight of the event is the participation of Gertrud Åström, one of Sweden’s most influential voices in gender equality. With a long and distinguished career, she has played a crucial role in shaping policies and strategies that promote equality at both national and international levels.

A Pioneer in Gender Equality

Åström has been at the forefront of gender equality advocacy for decades, playing a key role in shaping policies and driving change. She has led several government inquiries on gender equality, served as chair of the Swedish Women’s Lobby, and worked extensively to integrate gender perspectives into political and economic structures. Her insights have influenced legislation, corporate policies, and public discourse on how to create a more equal society.

Known for her strategic thinking, Åström has a remarkable ability to connect gender equality with sustainable development—an issue that is also central to JLOF’s mission. Her extensive knowledge and experience make her a sought-after speaker on equality, diversity, and social progress.

An Inspiring Speaker at Our Seminar

At JLOF, we are committed to strengthening women’s rights and promoting gender equality through education, advocacy, and community engagement – both in Sweden and Uganda. Our work includes initiatives to prevent and combat violence against women, as well as efforts to involve men and boys in gender equality work. These priorities align closely with the lifelong mission of Åström, making her an invaluable speaker at our upcoming seminar.

With decades of experience in gender policy, Åström has played a crucial role in dismantling structural barriers and promoting inclusive societies. Her expertise offers key insights into how we can drive sustainable change. This is an ambition we share at JLOF.

We are honored to welcome Gertrud Åström and look forward to an engaging and impactful discussion on April 9th!
